Chapter 7 - THE PROMISE UNDER THE STARSThat evening, after Emma had fallen asleep upstairs, wrapped safely in her warm bed, Sarah and David sat together on the back patio.

The night air was cool, but the patio heaters cast a warm, golden glow over the stone tiles. A glass of white wine sat untouched on the table between them.
Sarah looked out over the sparkling city lights below, a quiet tear slipping down her cheek.
"I was so scared today," Sarah whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "For six years, I carried the weight of the world on my shoulders, terrified that I would fail my daughter. And even when you saved us, part of me kept waiting for the other shoe to drop."
David reached across the table, his warm fingers wrapping gently around her hand.
"The other shoe isn't dropping, Sarah," David said, his voice full of fierce, unwavering devotion. "Your mother gave my mother a miracle when we had nothing. Today... you and Emma are my miracle."
Sarah turned her hand over, intertwining her fingers with his. She looked into his eyes, seeing not just gratitude, but a profound, undeniable love that had been growing quietly from the moment they met in the park.
"My mother left us a legacy of kindness," Sarah whispered with a soft smile. "I think she’d be very happy to see where it led us."
David leaned forward, lifting her chin with his free hand, and kissed her gently, tenderly—a promise of a future where neither of them would ever be cold, hungry, or alone again.
Inside the townhouse, Emma slept soundly, clutching her teddy bear in a room full of light and warmth.
And somewhere out there in the vast universe, Clara Silva’s kind, tired eyes were finally at peace, knowing that the circle of love she had started twenty-four years ago had finally come home.
