Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Victory

The afternoon sun dipped lower, casting a warm golden glow across the hardwood floors of the sunroom. I walked over to the bassinet, gently brushing a soft curl of hair from Leo’s forehead as he stirred in his sleep.

My reflection caught in the French doors leading out to the garden. I didn't see the frightened, exhausted bride who had backed into a cracked drywall wall four months ago, praying for a way out.

I saw a mother. I saw an entrepreneur. I saw a woman who owned her world, her choices, and her future completely.

The wedding of my dreams hadn't happened in a grand cathedral with Wagyu beef and champagne toasts. It had happened the moment I walked out of that suffocating house, locked my gaze on my own survival, and realized that the greatest love story you will ever write is the one where you finally save yourself.
