CHAPTER 2 – The Bride Who Refused To Cry
Most brides would have collapsed.
Amelia smiled.
She slowly closed the camera and stood up as the officiant asked,
"Do you take Nathan Brooks to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
Nathan answered immediately.
"I do."
Everyone turned toward Amelia.
She stared into Nathan's eyes for several long seconds.
Then...
She smiled even wider.
"I do..."
Nathan sighed with relief.
He thought he'd won.
The guests applauded.
Champagne glasses were raised.
The ceremony continued.
Until Amelia suddenly picked up the microphone.
"Before we celebrate..."
"I have one wedding gift for everyone."
Nathan's face tightened.
"What are you doing?"
She ignored him.
The ballroom's giant projector lit up behind them.
Nathan relaxed.
He assumed it was their engagement slideshow.
Instead...
The hidden camera connected automatically.
The first secret photo appeared.
Silence.
The second photo.
Gasps.
The third.
People began whispering.
The fourth.
Nathan's mother dropped her champagne glass.
The fifth.
The maid of honor turned pale.
Then came the lawyer documents.
Every guest could clearly read the title:
"Transfer all marital assets within 24 hours of marriage."
Nathan lunged toward the projector.
"TURN IT OFF!"
Too late.
The final image filled the giant screen.
Nathan and the maid of honor kissing...
While practicing their wedding dance...
In the exact ballroom...
Only one night before.
The room exploded into chaos.
Guests recorded everything.
Family members screamed.
The maid of honor burst into tears.
Nathan fell to his knees.
"Amelia... please... let me explain..."
She looked down at him without a single tear.
"No."
"You already explained everything."
"Your camera just spoke louder."
Security escorted Nathan and his lover outside as reporters, invited by one curious guest, rushed toward the entrance.
Everyone believed that was the end.
It wasn't.
Because as Amelia walked away...
Lily quietly tugged on her wedding dress one last time.
"There are still videos."
Amelia froze.
"What videos?"
The little girl whispered...
"My mommy told me not to tell anyone..."
"...but they're planning the same thing with another bride next month."
Amelia slowly turned around.
This had never been just a cheating husband.
