Chapter 5 - The Masterclass in DeceptionAn hour later, the door of the interrogation room swung open. Detective Hayes didn't look tired anymore; his face was stark white, and his hands were slightly trembling as he held a printed summary report.

“Where... where did you get this?” Hayes whispered, staring at the high-resolution device logs, geolocation pins, and webcam snapshots of Evelyn actively signing fraudulent corporate documents under my name.

“When you work in cybersecurity, Detective, you don't trust human witnesses. You trust code,” I replied calmly. “My sister is a narcissist with zero technical literacy. She thought changing her password and using my old credentials made her invisible. She didn't realize my firm’s servers automatically mirror every authentication request back to our secure cloud vault.”

Hayes swallowed hard, tapping his radio. “Get me a warrant squad. We’re moving on Grant Mercer’s corporate office immediately.”

“Hold on, Detective,” I raised a hand, stopping him. “A warrant right now just alerts them. Grant and Evelyn are hosting an exclusive engagement gala at the Plaza Grand tomorrow night. That’s where every high-society investor, real estate partner, and state official in Boston will be gathered.”

A slow, knowing smile crept across Detective Hayes’s face. “You want to crash the party?”

“No, Detective,” I corrected, standing up as the duty officer unlocked my cuffs. “I want to give them front-row seats to their own arrest.”
