Chapter 3 - THE TRAP IS SETThree weeks after the funeral, the international energy conglomerate—Aethel Corp—scheduled a high-stakes final review meeting to execute the exclusive global acquisition of the desalination membrane patent.

The boardroom was packed.
Representatives from Aethel Corp sat on one side of the table, looking sharp and eager. Grant sat at the head of the table like a conquering king, surrounded by his handpicked executive team.
I sat near the back, holding a slim leather folder, entirely invisible.
"Gentlemen," Grant beamed, standing up and projecting his voice with practiced boardroom charisma. "You are looking at the crown jewel of modern engineering. The core lattice structure of this membrane will revolutionize global water purification. And as the sole inventor and majority stakeholder, I am proud to sign this exclusive forty-million-dollar acquisition agreement today."

Grant casually slid a pristine folder across the table. "Everything is fully verified by our legal department. Flawless execution."
