Chapter 10 - The Reckoning and the RiseThe lead gunman didn't even have time to scream.

Umbra slammed into him like a runaway freight train, sending the thug flying twenty feet across the concrete into a stack of metal feed troughs with a sickening crunch of broken ribs. "Shoot the beast!" Sal screamed from the doorway outside, raising his own weapon.

Before Sal could pull the trigger, Adriano stepped out from behind the pillar, his Beretta locked dead on his uncle's chest.

"It ends here, Uncle," Adriano said, his voice terrifyingly calm above the crackle of growing flames.

"You think you won, boy?" Sal sneered, his finger tightening on the trigger. "You think a whorehouse cleaner and a broken horse are going to save—"

Bang.

The single gunshot echoed across the rolling hills of Kentucky, silencing the valley instantly.

Silence returned to Callaway Farm, broken only by the crackle of a small fire near the feed room, which Aldo and the surviving guards quickly stamped out with buckets of water.
