The snickering junior executives had been reassigned to regional warehouses in upstate New York, a new customer-first hospitality protocol was implemented at reception, and the security team had been retrained to value vigilance over arrogance.

On a bright, crisp Friday afternoon, Noah Reed walked through the front glass doors of Brooks Global.

He wasn't wearing his faded backpack or his dented metal box this time. He wore a sharp, tailored federal investigator’s suit, carrying a final audit report for the executive review board.

As he approached the reception desk, a new receptionist—professional, polite, and respectful—looked up with a warm smile.

“Good afternoon, Agent Reed. Mr. Brooks is expecting you on the fiftieth floor.”

Noah smiled, returning the nod. “Thank you.”

As he stepped into the private elevator, he glanced down at his feet.
