Chapter 6 - THE TRAP CLOSESOn the surveillance monitors, we watched Daniel panic.

He stumbled backward in the pitch-black living room, his hands thrashing against the air as if trying to swat away an invisible enemy. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his smartphone, and frantically tapped the screen—only for the display to flash a bright crimson skull before shutting down completely.

Our encryption had locked his entire digital ecosystem. Bank accounts, legal files, encrypted drives, and offshore portfolios were being systematically wiped and redirected in real-time.

"The transfer is complete," one of Adrien’s tech specialists announced from the back of the van, tapping a key. "All assets have been successfully repatriated. Moretti Enterprises holds full control of the Vance estate and Daniel’s corporate holdings."

Adrien nodded calmly, never taking his eyes off the monitor. "Lock down the perimeter. No one enters or leaves the property until I give the word."

"Understood, boss," the specialist replied into his radio headset.

I turned my head to look at Adrien, the glow of the dashboard casting sharp shadows across his face. "What happens to him now? Does he go to prison?"

"Prison is too clean for what he did," Adrien said, his voice terrifyingly quiet. "He stole your father’s legacy, he orchestrated a corporate conspiracy, and he tried to take your life. In my world, justice isn't handed down by a judge in a courtroom. It's balanced by those who survive."

"Then I want to be there when the balance is struck," I said.

Adrien looked at me for a long moment, studying my face as if searching for hesitation. Finding none, a faint, respectful nod touched his chin.

"Get your coat, Clare," he said, opening the van door. "Let's go greet your husband."
