Chapter 10 - The Last LaughThree months later, the financial district looked entirely transformed.

The monolithic glass skyscrapers that once housed predatory hedge funds and corrupt corporate headquarters now bore new plaques: Vance Community Trust, Center for Ethical Governance, Public Infrastructure Initiative.

Inside the grand auditorium of the newly renovated Vance Global headquarters, flashbulbs popped rhythmically as hundreds of international journalists, civic leaders, and industry reformers packed the seats. The air was charged with anticipation, completely devoid of the suffocating, arrogant tension that had defined the charity gala months ago.

I walked out onto the center of the stage, dressed in a sharp, tailored white pantsuit. No bruises. No torn sleeves. No hesitation. Just absolute, unshakeable authority.

The applause that greeted me wasn't the polite, sycophantic clapping of frightened billionaires trying to stay in my good graces. It was the thunderous, genuine ovation of a city that knew it had finally been reclaimed by its true caretakers.

I stepped up to the podium, resting my hands lightly on the polished wood, and looked out across the sea of flashing cameras and expectant faces.

"Good morning," I began, my voice clear, steady, and carrying effortlessly across the hall.

"A few months ago, in a room filled with crystal chandeliers and expensive champagne, a man told me that some people were born to rule and others were born to serve, and that a stray dog didn't belong at a banquet."

A ripple of knowing murmurs moved through the audience.

"He was right about one thing," I continued, letting a calm, confident smile touch my lips. "The old rules of that banquet are gone. The doors are open, the walls have been torn down, and the people who believed they were untouchable have learned a very simple, unforgettable lesson."

I paused, letting my gaze sweep over the cameras broadcasting my words to millions of viewers across the globe.

"Power isn't a privilege granted to those with the deepest pockets or the most corrupt connections," I said firmly. "It is a responsibility owed to the people who build the world with their own hands."

I raised my head high, the scars of the past completely healed, leaving behind only the armor of an unyielding legacy.

"Welcome to the new era. And remember—we built the doors, and we hold the keys."

The auditorium erupted into a standing ovation that shook the foundations of the building, echoing far out into the bright, sunlit streets of the city below. The game was over. The empire was restored. And the world would never be the same again.
