Chapter 10 - NEW DAWN, NEW EMPIREThe private jet sliced through the golden rays of dawn high above the Atlantic Ocean, its engines humming a steady, soothing rhythm. Inside the luxury cabin, the atmosphere was a stark contrast to the violence and fire of Brooklyn just hours before.

Sofia was fast asleep across a velvet-upholstered couch, her tiny chest rising and falling peacefully, clutching a small stuffed bear Damian had managed to buy at an airport boutique before takeoff.
Elena sat by the window, watching the endless expanse of clouds stretching out below. A cup of hot black coffee grew cold in her hands.
The events of the past twenty-four hours felt like a fever dream. Viktor Caruso was currently locked in a federal black-site prison awaiting trial for international abduction and racketeering, while the international police Interpol had already flagged Victoria Moretti’s flight coordinates for immediate interception upon landing in Europe.
A shadow fell over her seat.
Damian walked down the aisle, holding a fresh cup of coffee and a thick manila folder that Marco had managed to salvage from the hospital vault before the fire consumed everything. He sat down in the seat across from her, setting the coffee down on the mahogany table.
"You haven't slept," Damian said softly.
Elena turned her head to look at him. The harsh, terrifying mafia boss of Belladonna was gone, replaced by a man who looked at her with a depth of vulnerability he showed no one else in the world.
"How can I sleep?" Elena asked, a faint, weary smile touching the corners of her lips. "Two days ago, I was a broke waitress thinking my baby was dead in a grave she never even occupied. Today, I'm on a private jet with a mafia kingpin, fleeing an international conspiracy, and trying to process the fact that my entire life was a lie."
Damian reached across the table, covering her trembling hand with his large, warm palm.
"Your life wasn't a lie, Elena," he said, his voice steady and grounding. "The grief was real. The love you had for your daughter every single day was real. But the nightmare is over. Victoria will be caught. And nobody—nobody—will ever touch either of you again."
Elena looked down at their joined hands, then across the cabin at Sofia, who stirred slightly and mumbled a happy little sigh in her sleep.
"What happens now, Damian?" Elena asked quietly. "When we land? Do I go back to being a waitress at Belladonna?"
Damian’s dark eyes flashed with an intense, possessive warmth.
"Belladonna belongs to you now, Elena," he said, his lips curling into a rare, genuine smile. "Along with everything else I own. But more importantly... you're not going back to hiding. We're going home. Together."
May you like
Elena squeezed his hand back, feeling the heavy, terrifying, yet exhilarating truth settle into her heart. She had lost two years of her daughter's life to a syndicate's cold war, but as the sun broke over the horizon, painting the clouds in brilliant shades of gold and amber, she knew one thing for certain:
The dark was finally gone, and her family was finally whole.
