Chapter 5 - The Glass House Cracks"What is the meaning of this?" Arthur Sterling’s voice echoed like a thunderclap across the silent ballroom, cutting through the frantic clicking of camera shutters.

He thrust the manila folder toward Dominic, his face purple with fury. "Dominic! Explain this document right now! You swore to my board that Vale Hospitality held unencumbered title to every single property in your portfolio. Who the hell is Evelyn Vance, and why does she own the intellectual property rights to your flagship resorts?"

Dominic opened and closed his mouth like a stranded fish. Beads of sweat rolled down his temples, cutting through his heavy stage makeup.

"It’s... it’s an administrative error," Dominic stammered, his charismatic CEO persona completely shattered, leaving behind a terrified, cornered fraudster. "Arthur, please, let’s take this backstage—"

"Don't you dare touch me!" Arthur roared, slamming his fist onto the mahogany table so hard the water glasses rattled. He stood up, towering over Dominic. "You lied to my face. You brought my daughter into a sham marriage to force a clean corporate merger while hiding massive liabilities and forged asset transfers!"

Simone stepped forward, opening her silver tablet and tapping the screen. Instantly, the massive digital banner behind them—which had read VALE HOSPITALITY & STERLING GLOBAL—flickered, went black for a second, and then displayed a split-screen live data feed.

On the left side: the official corporate asset registry of Vale Hospitality. On the right side: the encrypted ledger recovered from Dominic’s safe.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the press," Simone announced, her voice carrying absolute authority across the room. "For the past six years, Dominic Vale has presented himself to the public as a self-made hospitality tycoon. In reality, every single strategic acquisition, every zoning approval, and every financial restructuring was designed, analyzed, and executed by his then-wife, Evelyn Vance."

A murmur rippled through the journalist gallery. Pens scratched furiously across notepads.

"Furthermore," Simone continued, tapping the screen again to reveal a series of scanned wire transfer receipts, "over the past four months, Mr. Vale systematically diverted two point four million dollars of corporate capital into offshore accounts to cover personal margin calls. To bypass the board's mandatory audit oversight, he forged Evelyn Vance’s signature on official SEC compliance documents."

She turned her gaze directly onto Dominic, who looked ready to collapse.

"And last night," Simone added, her voice dropping into a chilling register, "while his brand-new bride was sitting alone in a penthouse suite, Mr. Vale drove to a maternity ward to force his exhausted, postpartum ex-wife—who gave birth to his daughter less than two hours prior—into signing a fraudulent non-disclosure agreement to cover up his corporate crimes."

The ballroom went dead silent.

You could hear the low hum of the air conditioning vents. Every eye in the room turned toward Dominic with a mixture of disgust and shock.

Arthur Sterling slowly turned his head to look at Dominic, his expression frozen in pure, unadulterated hatred.

"You used my daughter," Arthur whispered, his voice shaking with suppressed rage. "You used Celeste as a human shield to bail out your sinking, criminal enterprise."

"Arthur, wait, let me explain—" Dominic lunged forward, grabbing at Arthur’s sleeve.

Arthur reacted instantly, raising his hand and delivering a resounding, open-handed slap across Dominic’s face that echoed like a pistol shot through the ballroom.

Dominic stumbled back, crashing into the podium and sending microphones clattering to the floor.

At that exact moment, the side doors of the ballroom swung open.

Celeste walked in.

She had taken off her heavy lace wedding veil. Her hair fell in loose, natural waves around her shoulders. She wasn't crying anymore. She looked calm, steady, and utterly devastating.

She walked down the center aisle, ignoring the flashing cameras, and stopped right at the base of the stage.

"You don't need to explain anything, Daddy," Celeste said clearly, looking up at her father. "I heard it all through the live audio stream on my phone."

She turned her cold, level gaze onto Dominic, who was picking himself up off the floor, holding his stinging cheek.

"The marriage is annulled, Dominic," Celeste said quietly. "My father’s legal team filed the papers five minutes ago. As of right now, you are not just a failed CEO. You are completely alone."

Dominic looked around the room—at the journalists filming his ruin, at his furious father-in-law, at his deserted bride, and at Simone standing triumphantly beside the evidence box.
