Chapter 9 - The New FoundationThe morning light streamed through the expansive glass windows of my new corner office on the fiftieth floor of Vance Global Holdings.

The space was twice the size of Dominic’s old office, but it lacked the cold, intimidating emptiness of his regime. A comfortable rocking chair sat in the corner by the window; a secure bassinet rested near my executive desk; and the walls were lined with organizational charts, financial projections, and framed photographs of Maya’s tiny footprints stamped in pink hospital ink.
My phone buzzed on the mahogany surface.
It was an alert from the corporate compliance department. The Q3 financial statements were ready for review—clean, transparent, and verified by an independent third-party auditor. No hidden ledgers. No offshore vendor accounts. No forged signatures.
Just honest, resilient growth built on solid ground.
I opened the document, my fingers moving easily across the glass screen.

I had spent years thinking I was the shadow.
Now, sitting at the head of a multi-million-dollar hospitality empire with my daughter sleeping peacefully just feet away, I finally understood the truth.

I had been the foundation. And when a foundation is built with absolute clarity, no amount of chaos can bring it down.
