Chapter 10 - The Ultimate CheckmateJulian froze, the pen hovering inches above the paper. "What are you talking about?"

Arthur raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

The heavy mahogany doors of the library swung wide open. Stepping into the room was not a lawyer or a board member, but Sergeant Miller of the State Police, flanked by two uniformed officers and holding a heavy, secure evidence bag.

Julian’s face drained of color. "What is the meaning of this? This is a private corporate meeting!"

Sergeant Miller stepped forward, ignoring Julian completely, and walked straight over to Arthur Pembroke, giving him a crisp, respectful nod. "Mr. Pembroke. We have secured the perimeter and executed the search warrant on the IP addresses linked to the illegal hidden cameras."

Arthur turned his piercing gaze back to his nephew. "You see, Julian, when you had your private investigator install those micro-cameras in my library today, you committed a federal felony: wiretapping, electronic surveillance without consent, and corporate espionage. But that’s not the best part."

Arthur walked slowly over to the mahogany side table, picked up the white envelope, and pulled out the crisp hundred-dollar bills.

"My private investigator—the real one, Victor—traced the serial numbers on these specific bills," Arthur said, his voice echoing triumphantly off the marble walls. "These aren't company funds, Julian. These are marked bills withdrawn directly from your personal offshore account in the Cayman Islands, transferred to your private investigator, and placed on my table by your own operative to frame me."

The board members gasped, turning their shocked eyes away from Arthur and fixing them with absolute fury upon Julian.

Julian stumbled backward, knocking his chair over with a loud crash. "That’s... that’s a lie! You fabricated this! You set me up!"

"I didn't have to set you up, Julian," Arthur said coldly, his eyes burning with righteous fire. "You walked right into your own trap. Sergeant, arrest Julian Pembroke for corporate espionage, illegal surveillance, and conspiracy to commit fraud."

Before Julian could reach the door, the two police officers stepped forward, the heavy steel handcuffs clicking shut around his wrists. As Julian was dragged out of the room, screaming obscenities and cursing his uncle’s name, absolute silence descended upon the library once more.

Arthur turned slowly to face the stunned board of directors. Without a word, he sat back down in his burgundy armchair, took a deep breath of the warm, crackling fireplace air, and gestured to Samuel and little Theo to step forward into the light.

"Gentlemen," Arthur announced, his voice ringing with absolute, unshakeable power as he placed his hand gently on Theo’s small shoulder. "Meet the new Vice Chairman of the Pembroke Foundation, and the boy who just saved my empire."
