Chapter 5 - The UnmaskingFrom behind the velvet stage curtains, two security guards stepped forward, carrying a large wooden easel holding The Blue Woman.

Gasps rippled through the front rows. Chief Eze’s face turned the color of ash.
“What is the meaning of this?!” Chief Eze shouted, stepping toward the stage. “Remove that trash!”
“It’s not trash, Uncle,” Chidi replied smoothly, stepping up to the microphone. “It is a historical document. Fifteen years ago, my brakes were severed by a hired mechanic named Marcus Vance. The man who paid him was recorded on an offshore bank account managed by a shell company. And the only person who discovered that paper trail was a brilliant art restorer named Evelyn Eze.”
The room erupted into chaotic whispers. Flashbulbs blinded us from every angle.
“You’re insane!” Chief Eze shrieked, sweating profusely under his collar. “Guards! Remove him!”
“No one is moving anywhere,” a deep, authoritative voice boomed from the grand entrance.
Heavy footsteps echoed across the marble floor as three federal economic crime investigators, flanked by armed federal marshals, marched straight down the center aisle.

The lead investigator stopped right in front of Chief Eze, flashing a gold badge.
“Chief Eze, you are formally under arrest for attempted homicide, corporate embezzlement, and the targeted murder of Evelyn Eze,” the investigator announced loudly.
