Chapter 5 - The Uninvited ArrivalThe heavy oak front door swung wide open, slamming against the interior drywall with a loud thwack.

"What the hell is going on here?!" a booming, arrogant voice echoed up the stairwell, dripping with indignant rage.
Ryan Sterling stood in the foyer, still dressed in his high-end Bogner ski jacket, designer sunglasses pushed up onto his forehead, carrying a leather duffel bag. He had caught the private emergency medical chopper flight back after receiving a frantic, automated security dispatch update that had finally pierced his alcohol-fogged brain.
Ryan stomped up the stairs, his face flushed red with fury, entirely oblivious to the life-and-death drama unfolding in his own nursery.
"Marcus?! What the actual hell are you doing in my house?" Ryan roared, storming down the hallway and pushing past Dave Kowalski into the nursery.
Ryan stopped dead in his tracks. The words died in his throat.
He stared at the blood-soaked rug. He stared at the paramedics covered in crimson stains, working furiously over his wife’s lifeless-looking body. And finally, his eyes landed on Marcus—his estranged brother whom he had banished from his life months ago—holding his newborn son against his chest like a seasoned combat soldier.
"Is she..." Ryan stammered, the color instantly draining from his tanned face, replacing arrogance with naked, cowardly panic. "What happened? Why is there... why is there so much blood?"
Marcus slowly lowered Emma’s hand, handed Ethan carefully to paramedic Sarah Jenkins, and rose slowly to his full height. The temperature in the room dropped ten degrees.
The contrast between the two brothers was staggering: Marcus, blood-spattered, exhausted, eyes burning with a righteous, lethal fury; and Ryan, standing there in his expensive ski gear, smelling faintly of expensive scotch and alpine pine, looking like a man who had just realized his favorite luxury sports car had rolled off a cliff.
"She's dying, Ryan," Marcus said, his voice dangerously low, stripped of all human warmth. "She is actively bleeding to death on a nursery floor because you decided your Instagram aesthetic and an Aspen ski trip were more important than your wife's postpartum recovery."
"That's—that's a lie!" Ryan sputtered, stepping backward, his hands flying up in a defensive gesture. "She said she felt fine! She told me she had everything under control! I called her every single day!"
"You called her to ask if your dinner reservation was confirmed!" Marcus stepped forward, invading Ryan’s personal space with such terrifying intensity that Ryan stumbled back against the hallway wall. "You knew she had a high-risk delivery. You signed discharge papers that explicitly outlined hemorrhage risks. But instead of staying home to monitor her, you posted arrogant little videos bragging about being a 'solo dad' while leaving a woman who had just undergone major abdominal surgery entirely alone with a newborn baby!"

"She's my wife! I have rights!" Ryan screamed, his voice cracking hysterically as downstairs, the front door medics prepped the stretcher for transport.
"Your rights ended the moment you prioritized your ego over her pulse," Marcus snarled, his fist clenching at his side with such force that his knuckles turned white. "If she dies tonight, Ryan... I swear to God, I will personally make sure the entire world knows every single vile, narcissistic detail of what you did. And no amount of PR spin will ever save you."
