Chapter 9 - RestorationTwo weeks later.

The towering glass headquarters of Reed Logistics in downtown Chicago was undergoing a massive, thorough cleansing.

Every corrupt executive appointed by Marcus Vale had been removed. Independent auditors were reviewing every department to ensure fair wages, retroactive pension contributions, and strict safety compliance.

And in the primary executive boardroom on the fiftieth floor, a new Vice President of Operations was settling into her corner office.

Hannah Cole—wearing a sharp, tailored business suit that looked a thousand times better than her grease-stained warehouse coveralls—sat behind a massive mahogany desk, reviewing supply chain efficiency reports.

There was a soft knock on the open door.

I leaned against the doorframe, wearing my usual dark suit, holding two cups of black coffee.

“How is the view from up here, Hannah?” I asked with a faint smile.

Hannah looked up, laughing as she shook her head. “A little dizzying, Jackson. I keep looking for the forklift keys.”

“You won't need forklift keys anymore,” I said, walking in and setting her coffee cup on the desk. “You now manage twenty thousand logistics employees across three continents. And judging by your audit recommendations from this morning, you’re going to run them better than Marcus ever did.”

Hannah’s expression softened, her eyes filling with genuine gratitude. “Thank you, Jackson. For not just cleaning house, but for actually listening to the people in the dirt.”

“I learned from the best,” I replied softly.
