Chapter 8 - Unbroken Horizon

The sun rose over the Virginia hills, casting a golden glow across the lawn of Nora’s new home.
The moving boxes were finally unpacked, the nursery was filled with books and soft blankets, and the past was buried where it belonged—beneath the weight of its own corruption.
Nora sat on the front porch with a cup of hot coffee in one hand, while June rested peacefully in her arms, wrapped in a soft, pale-blue blanket.
A sleek black car pulled up quietly to the driveway. Wesley stepped out. He looked different—thinner, humbled, wearing a simple, unbranded jacket instead of designer suits. He stood at the edge of the lawn, not daring to step forward without permission. He looked up at Nora with a mixture of deep sorrow and cautious hope.
Nora didn't turn away. She didn't glare. She simply gave him a single, measured nod—a silent signal that the supervised visit could begin, but on terms defined by dignity, accountability, and boundaries that would never be crossed again.
Wesley swallowed hard, took a deep breath, and walked slowly toward the steps.
Nora looked down at June, her heart steady and fierce. The world could try to label people, to measure worth by inherited wealth, or to demand submission from those they deemed beneath them. But true power wasn’t given by a family name or a bank account.
