Chapter 6 - THE FEDERAL ARRIVAL AT THE GALABefore anyone could respond, the heavy oak double doors of the Officers Club ballroom burst wide open.

Four armed Military Police officers in full tactical gear, accompanied by two federal investigators in dark suits, marched into the grand hall. Their heavy boots echoed rhythmically against the floor, a stark reminder of real power breaking through the fragile illusion of high-society pretense.

The lead investigator scanned the room, his eyes locking onto Robert Hayes still sitting pathetically on the floor amidst shattered glass.

"Robert Hayes?" the investigator called out, flashing a gold federal badge.

Robert whimpered, unable to speak, simply nodding weakly.

"You are being placed under federal arrest for corporate espionage, unauthorized dissemination of classified defense logistics, and federal wire fraud. Stand up and place your hands behind your back."

Two MPs stepped forward, hauling a crying, stammering Robert to his feet. As they slapped heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists, the metal click echoed through the room with poetic finality.

As they dragged him past the crystal chandelier, past the portraits of dead generals, and out toward the grand entrance, Robert caught one last glimpse of me standing by the bar.

His eyes were wide with a terrifying, helpless realization: the niece he had mocked as a helpless charity case was the architect of his complete and total ruin.
