Chapter 6 - The Unveiling

The courtroom erupted into whispers.

"Who is this child? Bailiff, remove her immediately," Raymond Vance demanded, his voice cracking with a sudden, sharp panic.

Julian’s face turned a violent shade of red. "She’s a street beggar! A trespasser! Get her out of here!"

But Judge Harrison raised his hand, his eyes locking onto Abby. He saw the sheer, unadulterated courage in her eyes. He also saw the mud, the rain, and the desperation.

"Wait," Judge Harrison commanded. "Young lady, step forward. What did you just say?"

Abby walked down the center aisle, her wet sneakers leaving dark footprints on the carpet. She stood right next to Michael’s wheelchair. Michael’s glassy eyes shifted toward her, a single, clear tear finally escaping his eye.

"They are poisoning him," Abby said, pointing her small finger directly at Julian and Raymond. "They are putting bad medicine in his water and his veins to make him look crazy. I have the video. I have the proof."

"This is absurd! This is a circus!" Julian yelled, stepping toward Abby. "She’s a lunatic!"

"Sit down, Mr. Reynolds, or I will have you held in contempt!" Judge Harrison roared, his gavel striking the desk like a clap of thunder. He looked back at Abby. "Where is this proof, child?"

Abby reached into her backpack. She pulled out her mother's cracked phone. But when she tried to turn it on, the screen remained black. The battery was dead, water-logged from the night in the rain.

"It won't turn on," Abby whispered, panic rising in her chest. "But... but I have this!"

She pulled out the silver robot toy Michael had given her.

"That's just a toy!" Raymond sneered, letting out a forced laugh. "Your Honor, this is a waste of the court's time. We are discussing a four-billion-dollar empire, not a children’s playground story."

"It's not a toy," Abby said firmly. She remembered what Michael had told her. Keep it very safe. Show it to a nice judge. She walked up to the bench and handed the silver robot to Judge Harrison. "Michael told me to give this to you. He said it has his secrets inside."

Judge Harrison examined the silver device. As a man who kept up with modern technology, he noticed a small, concealed USB port on the robot's base. He plugged it into his laptop on the bench.

The screen lit up instantly. A secure, encrypted drive bypassed the court's basic security protocols, launching a high-definition video player.

But it wasn't just files.

Michael, knowing his brother’s greedy nature, had installed a highly sophisticated, motion-activated micro-camera inside the silver robot toy, which he had kept on his study desk for weeks before giving it to Abby.

The screen projected onto the courtroom's large media displays.

The video showed Julian and Raymond standing in Michael’s study, holding a vial of clear liquid.

"The digitalis compound is working perfectly," Raymond’s recorded voice echoed through the courtroom, clear and terrifying. "Just a few more doses in his tea, Julian, and he won’t even know his own name. The court will hand us the keys to Rain Solutions, and then we can put him away permanently."

"Perfect," Julian’s recorded voice replied, a cruel smirk on his face. "I want him dead by the end of the year."

The courtroom went dead silent.

Julian’s face drained of all color. Raymond stumbled backward, his knees hitting his chair.

"This... this is a deepfake! It's an AI generation!" Raymond stammered, his voice high-pitched and desperate.

"Silence!" Judge Harrison roared, his face livid with rage. "Bailiffs, lock the doors! Nobody leaves this room!"
