Chapter 7 - THE AFTERMATHI stood on the edge of the cliff, the sunrise painting the ocean in colors of fire. Ghost sat beside me, his fur matted with dust, his amber eyes watching the ruins of the manor.

I was broke. I was homeless. I had no job.

But for the first time in three years, I wasn't being hunted by collection agencies, and I wasn't carrying my mother’s death sentence in my passenger seat.

I looked at the walnut box, now empty. I threw it into the sea and watched it vanish.
