Chapter 1 - The Weight of a Broken Dynasty

The metallic click of Gerald Whitmore’s briefcase snapping open echoed through the tight aisle of Flight 782, exposing the dark machinery of a corporate conspiracy. Inside lay the remote transmitter, its green status LED blinking like a malevolent eye, alongside the thick, red-stamped files labeled Brooks Liability Settlement.
Passengers stared in horror as a burly corporate lawyer pinned Gerald to the navy carpet. But up in the cockpit, twelve-year-old Malachi Brooks didn’t flinch. The voice of Commander Hayes crackled through the captain's headset, raw and shaking with a revelation that rewrote history.
“Your father didn’t crash because of a thunderstorm, Malachi,” Hayes whispered over the secure frequency, the roar of the Atlantic winds outside masking the tremor in his tone. “The chemical canister they pumped through your flight deck’s ventilation? It’s the exact same formula found in Flight 411’s wreckage. Someone wanted your father quiet because he discovered that American Skyline was cutting corners on structural avionics. They labeled it pilot error to protect their stock price. And tonight, they tried to finish the bloodline.”
Malachi’s small hands tightened on the yoke. The plastic youth aviation badge pinned to his secondhand blazer caught the pale glow of the altimeter. He wasn’t just flying a commercial jet anymore; he was flying straight into the heart of the men who murdered his father.
In the cabin, Grace Holloway slammed the medical isolation bag shut over the saboteur’s chemical canister, locking away the toxic proof. But out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something terrifying on the flight deck’s digital status monitor.
