CHAPTER 1 — The Prisoner Everyone Feared

When the prison sirens echoed across Blackstone Maximum Security Penitentiary, more than two thousand inmates stood perfectly still.
Not because they respected the rules.
Because they were waiting for one man.
Marcus Kane.
The most feared inmate in America.
Six-foot-four, scarred, silent, and serving three life sentences without parole. Every prisoner knew his name. Every guard kept their distance. Rumors claimed he had once taken down an entire prison gang with nothing but his bare hands.
Yet that morning, Marcus wasn't fighting.
He simply stood in the middle of the prison yard as the newly appointed warden walked directly toward him.
The guards panicked.
"Sir, don't get any closer!"
"He's extremely dangerous!"
But the new warden, Daniel Hayes, ignored every warning.
He stopped inches away from Marcus.
The entire prison fell into complete silence.
Two thousand inmates watched without breathing.
Marcus slowly lifted his head.
Instead of attacking...
He smiled.
A smile so calm that it terrified everyone watching.
Then he leaned closer and quietly whispered,
"You finally found me."
The color instantly drained from Warden Hayes' face.
No one understood why.
How could the most dangerous prisoner in the country know the new warden before they had ever met?
Before anyone could react, Marcus took one step backward, placed both hands behind his back, and calmly said,
"Now the game begins."

No one noticed the tiny silver key slipping from his sleeve onto the concrete.
Except the warden.
