Chapter 6 - THE SIEGE OF CALDWELL MANORThe front stained-glass windows of the Caldwell mansion shattered into a million glittering diamonds as a barrage of high-caliber rounds tore through the foyer.

Sparks flew off the marble pillars as Viktor and four remaining enforcers returned fire from behind overturned mahogany tables. Brass casings rained onto the floor like metallic hailstones.
"They're coming through the west wing!" an enforcer yelled, clutching a bleeding shoulder.
Suddenly, the double doors of the grand library burst open, and three masked gunmen poured in, weapons raised.
Before they could squeeze their triggers, the heavy leather doors behind them glided open smoothly.
Nathan Caldwell sat in his wheelchair, rolling forward out of the shadows. But he wasn't holding a crayon or a ledger.
strapped across his lap was a custom-mounted M134 micro-gun powered by a heavy-duty portable battery pack, flanked by twin tactical submachine guns.
The masked hitmen froze in sheer, unadulterated terror.
"You boys should have checked the security blueprints more carefully," Nathan said, his voice dropping to a low, demonic growl. "You only planned for a cripple."
R-R-R-R-R-T!
The micro-gun roared to life, unleashing a wall of lead that completely obliterated the intruders, tearing through the oak paneling and turning the foyer into a slaughterhouse of splintered wood and flying dust.
Within seconds, the gunfire stopped. The heavy smoke drifted toward the high vaulted ceilings, smelling of cordite and burnt brass.
Viktor limped into the room, coughing, staring in awe at his boss.
"Boss... the perimeter is overrun. Marcone himself is out in the courtyard with a strike team. He says if you don't walk out and surrender the entire South Side portfolio, he’s going to burn this estate to the ground with everyone inside."
Nathan reloaded a fresh clip into his sidearm, his face carved from granite.
"Tell Marcone his niece isn't here," Nathan said coldly. "And tell him that if he wants my empire, he’s going to have to come down to hell and take it from me himself."
"What about Grant?" Viktor asked.
May you like
Nathan rolled his chair toward the courtyard doors, the wheels crushing broken glass beneath them.
"Leave Grant in the bunker," Nathan said. "Let him watch the world he tried to steal burn to ashes."
