Chapter 10 - THE FINAL SURPRISEFive years later.

We were back in Portland. Not in the tiny apartment, but in a home filled with light and laughter. The twins were eight now, and they were running into the house with their younger brother, a toddler who had Ethan’s smile and my stubbornness.
Ethan had stepped down from the day-to-day operations of his company, turning it into a foundation that protected families in need. He was home for dinner every night. He was the father he’d always promised to be.
As we sat by the Christmas tree, the same gray elephant Lily had clutched on that flight was tucked under the branches. Ethan took my hand, his green eyes still as intense as the day we met.
