Chapter 7 - The Final Ledger

The corporate boardroom on the forty-second floor of Doyle Enterprises was bathed in the sterile, pale light of a rainy Tuesday morning.

At precisely 8:40 AM, Clara sat at the head of the polished mahogany conference table. Her hair was pulled back into a severe, flawless bun; her charcoal pantsuit was immaculate. On the wall-mounted digital display, a secure terminal clock ticked down the seconds: 00:04:52... 00:04:51...

Julian Vance stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, checking his gold wristwatch with a tense, sweating expression. “The wire instructions are queued, Clara. Enter your cryptographic key and authorize the transfer. Don't play games.”

Clara didn't look at him. Her fingers rested smoothly over the mechanical keyboard of her secure terminal. Her expression was serene, carved out of absolute marble.

Downstairs in the underground parking garage, federal agents from the Department of Justice and the FBI were already positioning their vehicles behind the exits, awaiting the digital ping that would freeze every shell account Grant Doyle had set up across three continents.

And thousands of miles away, on a sun-drenched balcony in the Cayman Islands, a man wearing designer sunglasses and sipping a martini was checking his phone, waiting for a confirmation code that would set him free forever.

Clara looked up at Julian, meeting his anxious gaze with a devastating, brilliant smile.

“Tell Grant I said hello,” she whispered.

With a single, steady keystroke, she hit Enter.
