Chapter 4 - THE ARCHITECT OF PAINFor the next forty-eight hours, Tribeca became a war room.

While my legal team fought off the bogus SEC charges, Elara sat in my study, going through old family archives. For years, she had quietly collected evidence—photos, hidden journals, date logs of every incident from her childhood.
"He kept a notebook," Elara whispered, holding a small leather-bound book with yellowed pages. "He called it 'The Physiology of Endurance.' He wrote down my heart rates during... during the sessions."
I knelt beside her chair, taking her cold hands. "We have enough to put him away for life, Elara. But we need to bypass his father’s corrupt network. We need a tribunal."
"No," Elara said, her eyes flashing with a sudden, sharp brilliance. "My father controls the legal system. But he doesn't control the market. You taught me that, Marcus. If you destroy a man's fortune, his friends turn into wolves."
She opened the notebook to the final page. Tucked inside was a micro-flash drive hidden beneath the leather binding.
"What is that?" I asked.
"My father's real vault," Elara said coldly. "He thought I didn't know the password. He thought I was just a broken ornament to display at charity dinners. But while Arthur was hurting me, I was watching where my father kept his keys."
We plugged the drive into an air-gapped laptop. The files opened, revealing thousands of offshore banking accounts, shell corporations, and illegal medical research funds connected to the Vance Foundation.
And then, we found the crown jewel: a folder labeled "PROJECT ASCLEPIUS."

As Devlin decrypted the files, our blood ran cold. Arthur wasn't just a sadistic surgeon. The Vance family had been running an illegal, unlicensed human testing ring for high-net-worth foreign donors, using vulnerable patients from public hospitals as subjects.
Arthur wasn't a rogue psychopath. He was the chief operator of a multi-million-dollar criminal syndicate—and his family was his board of directors.
