Chapter 10 - THE NEW DAWNThree months later.

The private jet touched down softly on the private airstrip in Chicago, taxiing smoothly toward the hangar where my black convoy waited.
As the cabin door opened, the warm spring breeze swept into the aircraft. I stood up, offering my hands. Lily and Owen grabbed them immediately, their small fingers wrapping tightly around mine, no hesitation, no fear—only complete, unconditional trust.
As we walked down the jet bridge toward the tarmac, a gust of wind caught Lily’s curls. She looked up at me, her bright blue eyes shining.
"Are we going home, Mr. Ryker?" she asked softly.
I looked down at the two children who had changed my entire world, the children I had found abandoned at an airport terminal, thinking they were disposable.
I smiled, squeezing their hands gently.
"Call me Dad, Lily," I said. "And yes... we're going home."
