Chapter 3 - The Blueprint of a BetrayalUpstairs in the master study, the heavy mahogany safe stood wide open. Files, flash drives, and legal documents were strewn across the executive desk like confetti after a disaster.

Julian stood over the desk, his hands braced against the wood, staring down at a thick dossier labeled simply: Project Erasure.

“She didn’t just kidnap her, Julian,” Marcus said grimly, handing over a printed email chain. “She engineered the entire disappearance four years ago. Remember when Clara went on that solo humanitarian trip to Eastern Europe?”

Julian nodded slowly, the memory stabbing at his chest. “Her plane went down over the mountains. They never found the wreckage. They held a memorial service. I gave the eulogy.”

“It was all a staged black-op,” Marcus said, pointing at a financial transfer receipt attached to the file. “Victoria hired a private mercenary firm to intercept Clara’s vehicle on the way to the airport. They drugged her, swapped her passport, and flew her back private charter directly into this estate while you were grieving in Europe.”

Julian’s eyes scanned the documents. There were medical reports, psychological assessments, and chilling notes detailing how Victoria intended to break Clara’s spirit completely so she would never dare claim her identity back.

“Why?” Julian whispered, his voice trembling. “Clara gave her a home when she was broke. She treated her like a sister!”

“Greed,” a cold, mocking voice drifted from the doorway.

They all turned. Victoria stood in handcuffs, flanked by two armed police officers. Her hair was slightly disheveled, but the arrogant, venomous smirk on her lips hadn’t faded an inch.

“Clara was weak, Julian,” Victoria sneered, lifting her chained hands slightly. “She had all the wealth, all the pedigree, and all of your love, yet she spent half her time worrying about charity work and emotional nonsense. I wanted what was mine. And honestly? Watching you cry on television every anniversary while the real you was eating leftovers in my basement was the greatest entertainment of my life.”

Before Marcus could pull him back, Julian surged across the room. He grabbed Victoria by the collar of her designer blouse, slamming her back against the reinforced wall with a force that rattled the picture frames.

“You pathetic, sadistic monster,” Julian hissed inches from her face, every muscle in his body rigid. “You’re going to spend every single day of the rest of your life behind bars, wishing you had died in that basement instead.”

Victoria just laughed—a shrill, manic sound that echoed down the hallway. “Go ahead and lock me away, Julian! Check my offshore accounts first! Because the moment I step foot in a courtroom, a dead man’s switch goes off, and every single cent of the Vance empire vanishes into thin air!”
