Chapter 10 - The Unwritten FutureSix months later, the spring flowers bloomed along Michigan Avenue once more, painting the city in vibrant shades of pink and green.

The Aurelia Grand Chicago was busier than ever, hosting international summits, royal delegations, and high-profile galas that set the standard for luxury hospitality across the globe.

I stood on the private balcony of my thirtieth-floor suite, dressed in an elegant emerald silk dress, holding a glass of vintage champagne. The sun was setting over Lake Michigan, casting a brilliant orange and purple glow across the water.

My phone buzzed on the glass table beside me.

It was an email notification from the legal department, confirming that all remaining litigation and debt recovery cases from the past year had been officially closed and archived.

I picked up the phone, swiped the notification away, and opened the velvet-lined box resting on my desk.

Inside sat my grandfather’s vintage gold pocket watch. Its delicate gears ticked with a steady, rhythmic heartbeat, completely unbothered by the past, entirely focused on the future.

I picked up the watch, slipped it into my pocket, and walked back inside as soft instrumental music drifted from the grand ballroom downstairs.

I had survived the betrayal. I had survived the wreckage of a fake marriage, the humiliation of public scandal, and the assault of corporate raiders. I hadn't just survived—I had conquered.

And as the heavy glass doors closed behind me, I knew one thing with absolute certainty:

The empire was safe, and my story was only just beginning.
