Chapter 7 - THE FALL OF THE NETWORKBANG!

The heavy wooden door frame of Marcus's office shattered as the tactical team smashed through the entrance.

"STATE POLICE! DROP THE WEAPON! DROP IT NOW!"

Red laser sights flooded the office, painting Marcus’s chest and forehead in dotted red light. Four state troopers clad in body armor, led by Special Agent Miller, burst into the room, their rifles raised.

Marcus’s eyes went wide with sheer terror. The suave, arrogant attorney vanished in a fraction of a second. He froze, his hand trembling on the grip of the pistol.

"DROP THE GUN!" Agent Miller roared.

Marcus slowly raised his hands, dropping the weapon onto the desk. Within seconds, two troopers slammed him face-down onto his mahogany desk, forcing his arms behind his back and pulling the steel cuffs tight around his wrists.

"Marcus Vance, you are under arrest for conspiracy to commit child exploitation, illegal wiretapping, extortion, and attempted murder," Agent Miller announced, shoving Marcus up into a standing position.

Marcus glared at me, his face twisted in pure, unadulterated hatred as he was dragged past me. "You ruined yourself, Rachel! You think this ends with me?! You have no idea how deep this goes!"

"It ends tonight," I said coldly as he was hauled down the hallway in handcuffs.

While the forensic team secured Marcus’s office, confiscating hard drives, encrypted servers, and legal files, Agent Miller walked over to me.

"Mrs. Sterling," Miller said, looking at me with immense respect. "That took incredible courage. But we need to move fast. Based on the server data your friend provided, we have active arrest warrants being executed right now."

"Vanessa?" I asked.

Agent Miller pulled out his radio. "Unit 4, what is the status at the Miller residence?"

The radio crackled to life. "Command, this is Unit 4. We are at the residence. Target Vanessa Miller attempted to flee through the garage in her vehicle. We have her pinned at the driveway. She is in custody without incident."

I let out a long, shuddering breath.

It was over. The physical threat was finally erased.

By sunrise, news of the massive law enforcement raid broke across national media networks.

The story hit the front pages of every major news outlet in the country:

NATIONAL MOMS-NET SCANDAL: TOP INFLUENCER AND PROMINENT ATTORNEY ARRESTED IN MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR EXPLOITATION RING.

Vanessa’s social media accounts—once boasting hundreds of thousands of adoring followers—were officially seized and suspended by federal authorities. Her name became synonymous with one of the most disgusting betrayals of maternal trust in modern history.

I returned to the motel room where David, Lily, and Chloe were waiting.

When I opened the door, Lily ran into my arms, throwing her small arms around my neck. Chloe stood nearby, holding her stuffed rabbit, looking at me with big, hopeful eyes.

"Is it safe now, Aunt Rachel?" Chloe asked softly.

I knelt down, pulling both little girls into a tight, warm hug.

"Yes, sweetheart," I whispered, tears finally streaming down my face. "It's completely safe now. Nobody is ever going to hurt you again."
