Chapter 3 - THE ARRIVAL OF THE LAWEveryone in the room froze.

The doorbell rang a second time—longer, firmer, carrying the unmistakable authority of people who had business to conduct.

Alexander stood up, wiping his face with the back of his hand, and walked toward the grand foyer. Bianca scurried after him, her heels clicking frantically against the floor, her face twisted in panic.

"Alexander, don't open it! Don't let strangers in! This is a private family matter!" she hissed, grabbing at his sleeve.

Alexander shook her off with a sharp jerk of his arm that sent her stumbling backward against the wall. He pulled the heavy oak front door open.

Standing on the porch were two uniformed officers of the Brandenburg police department, accompanied by a tall, impeccably dressed man carrying a leather briefcase.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Morgen," the older police officer said, flashing a badge with practiced ease. "We received an emergency dispatch and a formal legal filing regarding an incident of grand larceny, extortion, and targeted elder financial abuse at this address."

Bianca shrieked from behind Alexander. "Larceny?! This is a private residence! My parents are guests here! That old woman is insane, she’s trespassing—arrest her!"

The man with the leather briefcase stepped forward smoothly. It was my attorney, Master Advocate Heinrich Weber. He adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and offered a cold, professional smile.

"Good afternoon, Frau Bianca," Weber said, his voice ringing with crisp legal precision. "I am Master Weber, legal counsel to Frau Helga Morgen. Under German penal code regarding the protection of vulnerable adults and aggravated theft under premeditated conspiracy, your actions today—specifically confiscating a gifted instrument of funds from a senior citizen against her explicit consent and distributing them to unregistered third parties—constitute a cognizable offense."

He turned to the police officers and nodded toward the dining room.

"The stolen property, along with primary audio evidence of a prolonged criminal conspiracy to commit fraud and illegal asset seizure, is currently located on the dining table inside. Secured by the victim."

The two officers stepped past Alexander into the foyer, their boots clicking purposefully on the marble floor.

"Wait," Ewald shouted, stumbling out of the dining room with his face red with indignation. "You can't just barge into a private home! Do you know who I am? Do you know my connections in the municipal tax bureau?"

The senior officer didn’t even glance at him. "Sir, step back from the threshold unless you want to be charged with obstruction of justice. Everyone remains in this room. Nobody leaves."
