Chapter 10 - THE EMPIRE OF SOFT AND STEELOne year later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the private balcony of the Valenti estate high on Blackwood Ridge.

The sea breeze blew gently off the waters of Grayhaven Bay, rustling the white linen curtains of the master suite.

Sitting on a soft plush lounge chair was Brielle. She wore a simple white silk sundress, her dark hair glowing in the golden light. Her body was soft, voluptuous, and deeply relaxed.

In her arms, she cradled a three-month-old baby girl wrapped in a soft pink blanket—little Isabella Rose Valenti.

The balcony doors slid open softly.

Nico stepped out, wearing a simple gray linen shirt and pants, carrying a tray with fresh fruit and two glasses of chilled lemonade. Gone was the stoic, terrifying kingpin who had once lived only for war and control. In his eyes was a deep, unshakeable peace.

He set the tray down on the marble table and knelt beside Brielle’s chair.

He leaned over, pressing a gentle kiss against his baby daughter’s soft forehead, before looking up into Brielle’s brown eyes.

"She has your eyes, my love," Nico whispered softly, reaching out to touch Isabella’s tiny hand.

"She has your stubbornness," Brielle chuckled gently, leaning down to press her lips to Nico’s cheek. "She refused to go to sleep until she heard your voice."

Nico smiled—a warm, genuine smile that lit up his handsome face. He sat beside her on the wide lounge chair, wrapping his broad arm around her waist, pulling both his wife and daughter against his side.

Looking down from the balcony, they could see the city of Grayhaven stretched out beneath them—the bustling docks, the majestic skyline, and the Marlowe Grand Hotel shining like a beacon of gold in the afternoon sun.

The city was no longer a place of cruelty, fear, and hidden pain for the people who worked in its shadows. Under Brielle’s leadership, the city had transformed—fair wages, protected worker unions, and a syndicate that defended the weak instead of preying on them.

"Did you ever think," Nico murmured softly, his thumb gently rubbing the heavy black diamond signet ring that still rested proudly on Brielle’s finger, "on that night when you were kneeling on the ballroom floor... that you would end up here?"

Brielle turned her head, looking into the eyes of the man who had seen her value when everyone else called her trash—the man who had placed a crown on her hand and given her his whole heart.

"I used to think justice didn't exist, Nico," Brielle whispered, leaning her head against his broad shoulder as their baby slept peacefully between them. "I thought I was just a girl meant to clean up other people's messes."

She wrapped her fingers tightly around his.

"Now I know," Brielle smiled softly, watching the golden sunset paint the ocean in shades of crimson and gold, "I was just waiting for my King."

Nico kissed her deeply, holding his empire close, while the sun set over the city that finally knew their Queen's name.
