Chapter 7 - THE RECTIFICATIONForty-eight hours later.

The morning sun broke through the storm clouds over the city, casting a warm golden light across the marble steps of the Federal Courthouse.
Scores of reporters and news cameras packed the plaza as federal agents led out the suspects in what the media was calling "The Crime of the Century."
Valentina Moretti, handcuffed and wearing a orange jumpsuit, was led down the steps first, hiding her face from the flashing cameras. Behind her were the surviving doctors from St. Helena Hospital, along with corrupt high-ranking police officials who had taken bribes to keep the baby-trafficking operation secret for nearly a decade.
Don Valenti was wheeled out in a wheelchair under heavy federal custody, facing dozens of racketeering and kidnapping charges.
Standing on the top step of the courthouse, flanked by his legal team, was Rocco Moretti.
Beside him stood Isabella, wearing an elegant white coat, looking healthier as the medical care restored her strength. On her left was eight-year-old Leo, his hand tightly holding his mother’s.
And standing right beside Rocco, wearing a brand-new dark navy dress and polished black shoes, was Sophia Bellini, holding her trusty notebook.
A reporter shouted from the crowd: "Don Moretti! Is it true that your estate was torched by your own father? Is it true that your missing heir was found in a trash bin by a child?!"
Rocco stepped up to the bank of microphones. His face was stern, but his eyes held a peace he hadn't known in eight long years.
"The men who built their power on lies, betrayal, and the suffering of children have been brought to justice," Rocco announced, his deep voice carrying clearly over the crowd. "The Moretti name will no longer be associated with crime, corruption, or shadows."
He paused, turning to look down at Sophia.
"My family was saved not by weapons, not by money, and not by fear," Rocco continued. "It was saved by the courage of an eight-year-old girl who paid attention when everyone else looked away."
The crowd quieted down, cameras zooming in on Sophia, who blushed slightly and pressed her notebook against her chest.
"Today," Rocco said, "I am announcing the creation of the Sophia Bellini Foundation—a hundred-million-dollar initiative dedicated to funding child protection, rescuing victims of human trafficking, and exposing corruption in private medical facilities across the country."
The reporters erupted into questions, but Rocco simply stepped back, holding Isabella's hand with one arm and putting his other hand protectively around Leo and Sophia.
As they walked down the private rear steps toward their waiting convoy, Elena Bellini was waiting near the car, holding the newborn baby—who had officially been named Gabriel, after the angel of news.

"Is everything ready, Don Rocco?" Marco asked, opening the door to the luxury SUV.
"Call me Rocco, Marco," he replied with a soft smile. "The 'Don' is dead."
