Chapter 4 - The ConfrontationVincent stood on his porch when the black sedan pulled up. He expected eviction notices. Instead, he saw the woman from the freezing rain—Eleanor—step out, followed by the most powerful woman in the regional business world: Victoria Shaw.

“You,” Vincent breathed, recognizing Eleanor. “You were the one...”

“I was the one who was cold,” Eleanor said, walking up the steps. “And you were the one who gave me your wife’s blanket. I think it’s time you met my daughter, Victoria.”

Victoria stepped forward, not with grace, but with the posture of a predator. “Mr. Rowan. I’ve heard you’re the thorn in my side. Let’s make this simple. I’ll buy your workshop for three times its value. Take the money and disappear.”

Vincent looked at the plans of Ironwood Landing. He looked at Lucy, who was watching from the window. “I don’t want your money, Ms. Shaw. I want the truth about what happened on the north ridge.”
