Chapter 6 - The Hospital RevelationSaint Jude Memorial Hospital was one of the finest medical facilities in New York—a sprawling complex of glass and advanced medical technology, entirely funded in part by Mercer Global endowments.

When Silas’s black SUV pulled up to the private entrance, the hospital director himself was waiting at the doors, bowing respectfully.
“Mr. Mercer! We weren't expecting you—”
“Cut the formalities, Director,” Silas commanded coldly, keeping Mave’s small hand securely in his as they walked through the sterile corridors. “Room 412. Clara Jensen. What is her status?”
The director nervously tapped his tablet. “Ah... Mrs. Jensen has severe bilateral pneumonia and heart complications. Unfortunately, due to unpaid medical bills, her specialized treatments were delayed, and—”
“Were delayed?” Silas stopped dead in his tracks, turning his dark eyes onto the director with a look that made the man turn pale. “She is in a hospital bearing my foundation’s name, and her treatment was delayed over paperwork?”
“I—I didn't know, sir! I’ll fix it right now—”
“Fix it by giving her the absolute best cardiac specialists in the country,” Silas ordered sharply. “Move her to the executive penthouse suite immediately. Every expense is covered by me.”
Minutes later, standing in the bright, sunlit recovery room, Mave gasped.
Lying in the hospital bed was a pale, fragile woman with dark hair spread across the white pillows. Clara Jensen stirred, her tired green eyes flickering open.
“M-Mave...?” Clara rasped, her voice weak. “Sweetheart... where have you been? I was so scared...”
Mave broke away from Silas, running to the bedside and throwing her arms around her mother’s neck. “Mom! I’m right here! And look! A nice man helped me!”
Clara looked up, her gaze meeting Silas Mercer standing quietly at the foot of the bed. Recognition flashed in her tired eyes. She knew that face from financial magazines and evening news broadcasts.
“Mr... Mr. Mercer?” Clara whispered in disbelief. “Why are you here? We can’t afford—we don't belong here...”
Silas walked forward, stopping beside the bed. His expression was respectful, filled with a quiet reverence.

“Mrs. Jensen, you belong wherever your daughter is,” Silas said softly. “And from this moment on, your medical bills, your housing, and your future are fully secured by me. You focus on getting strong. Mave needs her mother.”
Clara stared at him, tears streaming down her pale cheeks. She couldn't find the words. She could only nod, her hand tightly grasping her daughter’s fingers.
