Chapter 4 - Unraveling the EmpireThe dust settled inside the grand foyer as Nicholas, Patricia, and Gregory scrambled backward, retreating toward the sweeping staircase like trapped animals.

"You can't do this!" Patricia shrieked, her voice cracking as she clutched the banister for support. "This is private property! We are citizens! We have rights! I will call the governor himself!"
"Go ahead," I said, my voice carrying a chilling, razor-sharp calm that echoed off the high ceilings. I walked slowly into the foyer, my combat boots leaving faint dust marks on their expensive imported rugs. "Call anyone you want. But you'll find that your connections have suddenly become very... toxic."
Nicholas tried to puff out his chest, stepping in front of his mother, though his hands were visibly shaking. "You're abusing your military authority! This is kidnapping, trespassing, extortion—we'll ruin you! My father built half of this city's infrastructure, and your little army stunt won't change the fact that your daughter is a hysterical, unstable liar!"
I stopped pacing, locking my eyes directly onto Nicholas. The intensity of my gaze made him instinctively take half a step back.
"Your father built his infrastructure on bribes, embezzled municipal funds, and silenced anyone who stood in his way," I said quietly, reaching into the breast pocket of my tactical vest. I pulled out a thick, manila folder stamped with red classification seals and tossed it onto the glass coffee table.
It slid across the surface and stopped right at Nicholas's feet.
"What... what is this?" Nicholas stammered, staring down at the folder.
"That is the comprehensive audit of Ferguson Enterprises, compiled by military intelligence and federal forensic accountants over the last twelve hours," I replied evenly. "Every shell company in the Cayman Islands. Every kickback paid to zoning commissioners. Every suppressed lawsuit settlements paid out to women your family threatened over the last decade."
Gregory’s face drained of all color. He dropped to his knees beside the coffee table, flipping open the folder. Pages of bank statements, wire transfers, and signed non-disclosure agreements spilled out.
"How... how did you get this?" Gregory whispered in horror. "This is corporate espionage! This is classified financial data!"
"Nothing is classified when it intersects with national security," I said, stepping closer. "And your brother made one fatal mistake when he locked my daughter in that guest house and took her phone. He didn't realize that Abigail’s cloud backup was tethered to a defense contractor database. The moment she pressed send on her distress signal, your entire corporate empire became a military target under domestic counter-intelligence provisions."

Patricia gasped, clutching her chest as reality finally crashed down upon her. "You... you're destroying us over a domestic dispute?"
"It stopped being a domestic dispute," I whispered, leaning in close so only they could hear, "the moment your son laid his hands on my daughter."
