Chapter 8 - The Blueprint of ForeverThe courtyard erupted into chaos. High-society guests were whispering, pulling out their phones, whispering behind designer fans, and scrambling toward the exit gates. Mrs. Marlow was practically hyperventilating, fanning herself with a ceremony program while screaming threats of lifelong lawsuits.

Elise stared at Adrian for one long, agonizing second. Then, with a bitter sob, she turned around, hoisted the heavy layers of her designer wedding gown, and ran back up the stone steps toward the mansion, slamming the heavy oak doors behind her.

The multimillion-dollar wedding was officially dead.

The white rose arch stood silent under the Charleston sun. The string quartet had quietly packed up their violin cases and slipped away through the side garden.

Nora stood frozen in the center of the ruined ceremony lawn. Her tablet lay in the grass at her feet, broken into two pieces.

Adrian didn't look at the fleeing guests. He didn't look at Vance, who was furiously typing on his phone, muttering death threats under his breath as he retreated toward his car.

Adrian walked straight up to Nora.

The space between them felt charged, electric, heavy with eight years of grief, anger, unanswered questions, and a love that no corporate conspiracy or family betrayal could manage to demolish.

"Well," Nora said, her voice shaking slightly as a stray tear finally broke free and tracked down her cheek. "As a professional wedding planner, I have to say... this is officially the worst-managed ceremony I have ever hosted."

A genuine, breathless laugh escaped Adrian’s chest. He reached out, his warm fingers gently brushing the tear from her cheek—the exact same touch she had dreamed of every single night for nearly three thousand days.

"I'm sorry about your schedule," Adrian whispered.

"You owe me a new tablet. And a massive penalty fee for breach of contract."

"I'll pay whatever it takes," Adrian said, his hazel eyes shining with absolute, unwavering certainty. "And I'll help you build whatever you want. Anywhere you want."

Nora looked up at him. The anger that had protected her for so long finally dissolved, leaving behind the raw, beautiful truth she had tried to bury.

"I don't need a safety plan, Adrian," she whispered softly.

Adrian smiled, his hand sliding down to interlace his fingers tightly with hers. "Good. Neither do I."
