He believed that if he could maintain control of the board meeting scheduled for 2:00 PM, he could vote out any outside interference and secure a restructuring loan from his secret backer.
What Edwin didn't know was that Camila was three steps ahead of him.
At 11:00 AM, Camila arrived at the high-end penthouse in downtown Los Angeles—a penthouse registered under Crestview’s executive budget. She was accompanied by Attorney Wayne and two private investigators.
She unlocked the door with a master key provided by the building's true owner: the Stanford Real Estate Holding Group.
Inside, sitting on a velvet sofa sipping champagne, was Chloe—Edwin’s assistant and secret mistress. Chloe was wearing a diamond necklace that had disappeared from Camila’s jewelry box two years prior.
Chloe jumped up in shock. "Who allowed you in here? Do you know who I am? Edwin Vance will have you thrown out!"
Camila walked in slowly, taking off her leather gloves. She looked around the lavish penthouse, her gaze landing on the diamond necklace resting on Chloe’s collarbone.
"Nice necklace," Camila said softly. "My father gave that to me on my twenty-first birthday. Edwin told me it was stolen during a house break-in."
Chloe sneered, crossing her arms. "So what if he gave it to me? Edwin loves me. You’re just the boring domestic servant he leaves at home. He’s going to divorce you anyway, and I’ll be the new lady of the Vance family!"
Camila smiled—a sharp, dangerous smile that made Chloe step back.
"You really don't know who Edwin is, do you?" Camila asked. "You think he’s a wealthy CEO. The truth is, Chloe, this apartment is owned by my father's trust. The car you drive is leased under my father's corporate account. Even that champagne in your hand was billed to my family."
Camila turned to her legal team. "Serve her."
Attorney Wayne handed Chloe an eviction notice and a court summons for criminal possession of stolen property.
"You have twenty minutes to pack your personal belongings," Wayne announced. "The necklace, the luxury watches, and the designer clothes purchased with embezzled corporate funds remain here. If you touch them, you will be arrested on the spot."

"Edwin can't even pay for his own lunch today," Camila replied coldly. "And by 2:00 PM, he won't even have a title."
