Chapter 9 - A New Dawn over BostonSix months later, the view from the seventy-first floor of Sterling Tower looked entirely different than it had on that bloody, chaotic night.

The glass windows had long since been replaced, gleaming brilliantly in the golden light of a crisp autumn morning. Inside the newly redesigned private executive penthouse suite, the air smelled of fresh coffee, vanilla, and the sweet, babbling laughter of two healthy, thriving babies crawling across an imported plush rug.
I stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass, wearing a tailored navy blazer and designer heels—a far cry from my grease-stained waitress uniform at Ali's Diner.
Behind me, the private elevator chimed softly.
Daniel stepped out, unbuttoning his suit jacket as he walked across the room, scooping up both giggling twins into his arms with practiced ease. He looked healthy, strong, and completely at peace.
"The quarterly board meeting went smoothly," Daniel announced, kissing the top of each baby's head before looking up at me with a warm, knowing smile. "Julian's legal team tried to file an appeal this morning. It was dismissed in under three minutes."
"Good," I said, walking over to help him settle the twins into their custom playpen. "Let him rot in maximum security where he belongs."
Daniel reached out, catching my hand before I could pull away, his thumb gently tracing my knuckles. The cool, intimidating mob boss and ruthless CEO was gone, replaced by a man who had learned how to trust again.
"You know," Daniel murmured, his blue eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that still sent a pleasant shiver down my spine, "when you dragged me into that diner and saved my life, I thought you were just a coincidence of timing."
May you like
"And now?" I asked, a playful smile touching my lips.
"Now," Daniel whispered, pulling me gently closer as the twins babbled happily at our feet, "I realize you were the best thing that ever happened to my empire."
