Chapter 7 - The Unseen EvidenceMonths later, Theo was clearing out Lara’s old storage unit when he found a small, locked wooden box. Inside were letters—hundreds of them—addressed to Ava, to be read at different stages of her life.
And at the bottom, a note addressed to Theo.
“Theo, you’re reading this because you made it through the fire. You didn't give up on us. You chose the child over the company. That was the only test that mattered.”

He looked up at the wall, where he had hung a photo of Lara, and beside it, a photo of Ava laughing.
He realized then that he hadn't just regained his family. He had regained his humanity.
