Chapter 7 - THE REVELATION

Three days later, the story had dominated headlines across the world: "THE COFFIN CRACK: MULTI-MILLION-DOLLAR MURDER PLOT FOILED BY HERO MAID."
Julian Vance, Victoria Vance, Detective Sterling, and Dr. Thorne were all held without bail, facing charges of attempted murder, conspiracy, and high-level financial fraud.
Mia sat in a luxurious private suite at the city's main university hospital, sipping warm tea. The door opened, and Emily Vance walked in. She was dressed in a simple, elegant outfit, looking healthier than ever, though her eyes still carried the weight of the betrayal she had endured.
Behind her was Clara Vance, carrying a thick leather briefcase.
"Mia," Emily said softly, coming over to give the young woman a warm embrace. "How are you feeling?"
"Much better, Mrs. Vance," Mia replied. "I'm just glad you're safe."
"Please, call me Emily," she said, sitting in the chair beside the bed. "I owe you my life, Mia. If you hadn't paid attention to that faint sound in the chapel... if you hadn't fought through your own fear... I would be ashes right now."
"I just did what anyone would do," Mia said modestly.
Clara chuckled, leaning against the wall. "Trust me, Mia, most people would have run out of that chapel screaming. You took a metal tool and smashed open a coffin. You're a rare breed."
Emily nodded, her expression becoming serious. "I wanted to come here today to explain everything. And to give you what you deserve."
Emily signaled to Clara, who opened the leather briefcase and placed a stack of legal documents on Mia’s bedside table.
"What is this?" Mia asked, confused.
"Before Julian tried to kill me, I discovered he had secretly bankrupted the Vance Corporation through illegal investments," Emily explained. "The money he was after wasn't even his—it belonged to my late father's estate. But what Julian didn't know was that three weeks ago, I altered my will and corporate structure."
Emily smiled warmly, taking Mia's hand. "I created a new charitable foundation aimed at exposing corporate crime and protecting whistleblowers. And as part of my restructured estate... I have transferred 20% of the Vance Empire's remaining assets into a high-yield trust under your name."
Mia’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief. "20%?! Emily, that's... that's millions of dollars! I can't accept that!"
"You saved my life, Mia. You lost your job, risked your life, and stood up to powerful men when no one else would. You earned every single penny."

Mia wept tears of shock and gratitude. "I... I don't know what to say."
"Say you'll accept it," Emily said softly. "Because starting today, your life as a maid is over."
