CHAPTER 6 — The DNA That Changed Everything

Night fell.
Rain returned.
Inside Victor Laurent's private estate...
Dana sat quietly beside the sleeping baby.
She gently hummed an old lullaby.
Victor stopped walking.
He knew that song.
Impossible.
Only one woman had ever sung it.
Emily Carter.
His former accountant.
The woman he believed had died in a warehouse fire.
Victor slowly turned toward Dana.
"Who taught you that?"
Dana answered softly.
"My mother."
Victor laughed coldly.
"She's dead."
Dana looked directly into his eyes.
"No."
"You only buried someone else."
For the first time in decades...
Victor looked frightened.
Before he could speak...
Explosions echoed outside.
Police armored vehicles smashed through the estate gates.
Helicopters circled overhead.
Adrian had found them.
Gunfire erupted across the property.
Security guards scattered.
Detective Brooks led the tactical team inside.
Victor grabbed the baby.
"If I can't keep my empire..."
"...no one leaves alive."
Dana lunged forward without thinking.
"No!"
The baby slipped from Victor's hands—
—and Adrian caught her just in time.
Victor tried to escape through a hidden tunnel.
But armed officers surrounded every exit.
He finally dropped to his knees.
Handcuffs clicked shut.
His empire had fallen.
Hours later...
At police headquarters...
Doctors completed emergency DNA testing on everyone involved.
The room fell silent as the laboratory director entered.
She looked first at Adrian.
Then at Dana.
Finally she spoke.
"The rescued infant is Celeste Laurent's biological daughter."
Everyone nodded.
That much they already knew.
"But there is something else."
She handed Adrian another report.
His hands trembled.
"The DNA confirms..."
"...Dana is not related to Victor Laurent."
Detective Brooks frowned.
"Then who is her father?"
The laboratory director slowly looked at Adrian.
"You are."
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Adrian stared at the report in disbelief.
Eight years earlier...
Before he became one of the country's youngest billionaires...
He had briefly dated a young accountant named Emily Carter.
She disappeared without explanation.
He spent years believing she had left the country.
He never knew...
She had been pregnant.
Dana looked at Adrian with tears filling her eyes.
"So..."
"...I wasn't abandoned by everyone?"
Adrian dropped to his knees.
His own eyes overflowing.
"No."
"You were stolen from me."
He wrapped his arms around his daughter for the first time.
Nearby...
The rescued newborn slept peacefully.
Two little girls.
One saved from abandonment.
The other finally reunited with the father who had searched for her without ever knowing she existed.
Outside...
The sunrise broke through the storm clouds.
For the first time...
The Hill of Forgotten Children had hope.
May you like
And Adrian made one promise before every television camera in the country:
"Every child stolen by this network will be found... and every person who profited from their suffering will answer for it."
