Chapter 3: “IF YOU OPEN THAT FLASH DRIVE… PEOPLE WILL DIE.” The Bikers Ignored the Warning—Then Black SUVs Surrounded the Diner Before Sunrise

The old USB drive lay on the diner table between five untouched cups of coffee.

Nobody reached for it.

Nobody spoke.

Outside, dawn slowly painted the empty highway in pale orange, while four motorcycles stood parked beneath the flickering neon sign of Miller's Diner.

Emily and Mira sat in the last booth, wrapped in borrowed blankets from the waitress.

For the first time in weeks, the little girl had fallen asleep with a full stomach.

She was still hugging her faded pink teddy bear.

Emily watched her daughter instead of the men.

She knew what happened to people who got involved.

And she was praying these strangers would walk away before it was too late.

Ryder finally picked up the flash drive.

Six words stared back at him.

IF I'M DEAD... TRUST NO ONE.

Tank leaned forward.

"We call the FBI."

Viper shook his head.

"Not yet."

"Why?"

"Because if Richard owns people in this town..."

"...how do we know who gets that phone call first?"

Nobody answered.

Mason quietly connected an old laptop from his saddlebag.

"I don't like this."

Ryder nodded.

"Neither do I."

"But Daniel died trying to protect whatever's inside."

"We owe him the truth."

Emily suddenly stood.

"No!"

Everyone looked at her.

"You don't understand Richard."

Her face had turned completely white.

"If he realizes you opened it..."

"...he won't threaten you."

"He'll erase you."

Tank gave a tired smile.

"Lady..."

"I've heard that speech before."

Emily grabbed his wrist.

"No."

"You haven't."

"He doesn't fight."

"He buys."

"He owns judges."

"He owns police."

"He owns newspapers."

"He owns charities."

"He makes good people destroy themselves."

Silence filled the diner.

Even the waitress stopped pretending not to listen.

Emily lowered her voice.

"The last detective who believed me..."

"...retired three days later."

"The reporter investigating Daniel's death..."

"...lost her job."

"Our lawyer suddenly withdrew."

"Our landlord evicted us."

"My bank accounts were frozen."

"My credit disappeared."

"My husband's life insurance vanished."

She looked around the table.

"You think I'm homeless because I'm unlucky?"

"No."

"I'm homeless because Richard Whitmore wanted everyone to believe I deserved it."

The room became painfully quiet.

Mason slowly inserted the USB drive into the laptop.

Loading...

One folder appeared.

INSURANCE.

Inside were dozens of videos.

Hundreds of scanned documents.

Audio recordings.

Property deeds.

Bank transfers.

Signed contracts.

Hidden camera footage.

Tank whispered,

"My God..."

One video automatically began playing.

Daniel appeared on the screen.

His face was bruised.

He looked exhausted.

He stared directly into the camera.

"If you're watching this..."

"...I'm probably dead."

Emily burst into tears.

Daniel forced a weak smile.

"Emily..."

"I'm sorry."

"I promised I'd bring this home."

"I don't think I'm going to."

Ryder clenched his jaw.

Daniel continued.

"Richard Whitmore has stolen more than money."

"He steals homes from elderly families."

"He forges repair contracts."

"He bribes inspectors."

"He burns buildings after forcing owners to sell."

The next image appeared.

Photographs of burned houses.

Eviction notices.

Bank records.

Dead families.

Tank covered his mouth.

"This monster..."

Daniel continued speaking.

"But that's not the worst part."

Everyone froze.

"There are children."

The next folder opened automatically.

Dozens of photographs filled the screen.

Children.

Single mothers.

Veterans.

Widows.

Every victim had one thing in common.

Each had lost their home shortly before Richard's companies bought the property.

Emily whispered,

"Oh God..."

"I never saw these."

Daniel looked straight into the camera again.

"If anything happens to me..."

"...find Judge Harold Benson."

"He still believes in justice."

"But hurry."

"Richard already knows someone betrayed him."

The video suddenly ended.

Nobody moved.

Nobody breathed.

Then—

The diner's front door exploded inward.

CRASH!

Glass scattered across the floor.

Customers screamed.

Six men dressed in black tactical clothing stormed inside.

No police badges.

No company logos.

Just weapons.

One shouted,

"Take the laptop!"

Another pointed directly at Ryder.

"Kill anyone who resists!"

The waitress screamed as people dove beneath tables.

Tank flipped an oak table onto its side.

Bullets slammed into the wood.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

Coffee mugs exploded.

Windows shattered.

Emily threw herself over sleeping Mira.

Ryder grabbed the laptop just before another bullet tore through the booth.

"They found us!"

Mason kicked open the kitchen door.

"This way!"

The bikers rushed toward the back exit.

Two armed men blocked the hallway.

Viper launched himself forward like a freight train.

His shoulder crashed into the first attacker.

Tank ripped a fire extinguisher from the wall and swung it hard.

The second man hit the floor unconscious.

"GO!"

Everyone ran into the alley behind the diner.

Motorcycles roared to life instantly.

Emily climbed behind Ryder with Mira squeezed safely between them.

Tires screamed across the pavement.

Behind them...

Three black SUVs burst from the parking lot.

The chase had begun.

Bullets ricocheted off mailboxes.

A side mirror exploded.

Tank swerved through traffic.

Mason barely avoided a delivery truck.

Ryder looked into his mirror.

The lead SUV was gaining fast.

Then...

His phone vibrated.

An unknown number.

Against every instinct, he answered.

A calm, familiar voice filled the helmet speaker.

"Mr. Collins..."

Richard Whitmore.

"I warned Emily years ago."

"You should have stayed out of my business."

Ryder said nothing.

Richard laughed softly.

"You've already made one mistake."

"You opened the drive."

"You won't make another."

Click.

The call ended.

At that exact moment...

The bridge ahead erupted in a deafening explosion.

A wall of fire swallowed the highway.

Ryder slammed on the brakes.

The motorcycles skidded sideways.

Behind them...

The black SUVs kept coming.

There was nowhere left to run.
