CHAPTER 2 — THE SECRET NO MILLIONAIRE COULD BUY

Richard immediately ordered security to stop.

"No one touches the boy."

The entire mansion fell silent.

Emily kept staring at her own feet.

"They're warm..."

"They're actually warm..."

Her physical therapist rushed outside.

"This is impossible."

He pinched her toes.

Emily instantly pulled her foot back.

Everyone froze.

The therapist looked pale.

"She... she reacted."

Within an hour, the mansion became a battlefield.

Doctors arrived.

Machines were wheeled in.

Blood was drawn.

Brain scans were repeated.

Every specialist searched desperately for an explanation.

No one found one.

Richard pulled Noah aside.

"What exactly did you do?"

The nervous boy looked down.

"I didn't do anything special."

"Then explain it."

"My grandmother was a village healer."

Richard frowned.

"I don't believe in magic."

"It wasn't magic."

Noah quietly reached into his pocket and unfolded a faded notebook.

The pages were yellow with age.

Inside were handwritten notes about muscles, circulation, nerves, breathing, heat, and gentle stimulation.

"My grandmother believed some illnesses aren't caused by broken bodies."

"They're caused by bodies that stop communicating with themselves."

The doctors laughed.

"This is nonsense."

But Emily interrupted them.

"Wait..."

Everyone turned.

Slowly...

Very slowly...

She lifted one foot completely out of the basin.

For the first time in eight years...

She moved it by herself.

The room exploded into chaos.

Doctors shouted.

Nurses cried.

Richard covered his mouth.

Emily laughed through tears.

"I moved..."

"I actually moved..."

But Noah didn't celebrate.

Instead...

He looked worried.

Richard noticed immediately.

"What is it?"

Noah hesitated.

"This only works if she keeps believing."

One doctor scoffed.

"Believing doesn't heal paralysis."

Noah calmly replied,

"No..."

"But fear can make someone forget how to move."

The words struck Richard like lightning.

Suddenly...

He remembered.

Eight years earlier.

The night before Emily collapsed.

A terrible argument.

Screaming.

Broken glass.

Emily hiding behind the staircase.

The divorce.

The lawsuits.

The endless fighting.

Richard had spent years searching for diseases.

But had he ever searched for the wound inside his daughter's heart?

That night...

He entered Emily's room.

For the first time since she became ill...

He apologized.

"I'm sorry."

"I was so busy trying to fix your legs..."

"I forgot to protect your heart."

Emily burst into tears.

She hugged him tightly.

Outside the door...

Noah quietly smiled.

May you like

Because he knew...

The real healing had only just begun.
