CHAPTER 1 — THE BOY WHO SHOULDN'T HAVE STEPPED INTO THE ARENA

The bull's hooves thundered across the arena.
Dust exploded into the air.
Nine hundred kilograms of pure muscle charged straight toward the skinny barefoot boy.
Women screamed.
Children buried their faces in their parents' arms.
Several men jumped over the fence, convinced they were about to witness a child being killed.
Don Mateo clenched the envelope containing one hundred thousand euros.
"This is madness..."
But the boy didn't run.
He didn't even flinch.
Instead...
He slowly lowered his eyes.
Relaxed his shoulders.
And whispered so quietly that no one in the stands could hear him.
"I'm not here to fight you."
The bull was less than three meters away.
Two.
One.
Everyone expected blood.
Instead...
The impossible happened.
The enormous beast suddenly slammed all four hooves into the dirt.
Its body skidded sideways, sending dust flying everywhere.
The bull stopped.
Only inches from the boy.
A stunned silence swept across the arena.
No one moved.
No one breathed.
The animal stared directly into the boy's eyes.
Its heavy breathing slowly became calmer.
The boy gently stretched out one trembling hand.
People shouted.
"Don't touch him!"
But it was too late.
His fingers rested softly on the bull's forehead.
The giant animal closed its eyes.
As if it had been waiting years for someone to do exactly that.
The crowd gasped in disbelief.
Don Mateo dropped the envelope.
It burst open.
Banknotes scattered across the arena, but nobody even looked at them.
Their eyes were fixed on the impossible scene.
The killer bull...
Was standing perfectly still beside a poor barefoot child.
For almost two minutes.
Then something even stranger happened.
The bull lowered its enormous head...
And slowly knelt.
An animal that had nearly killed grown men...
Was bowing before a fifteen-year-old nobody.
The audience erupted into thunderous applause.
Some people cried.
Others crossed themselves.
Don Mateo walked toward the boy, still unable to believe what he had witnessed.
"What did you do?"
The boy smiled faintly.
"I listened."
Don Mateo frowned.
"Listened to what?"
"The pain."
The old landowner laughed nervously.
"Pain? He's just an angry animal."
The boy shook his head.
"No."
"Someone made him angry."
Those words wiped the smile from Don Mateo's face.
Because deep inside...
He remembered something he had spent three years trying to forget.
And for the first time...
He realized Demon had never been born violent.
May you like
Someone had turned him into a monster.
