CHAPTER 6 – THE ORPHANAGE BURNED... BUT THE HARDEST TRUTH SURVIVED

Father Michael didn't wait for the police.

He acted first.

Just hours after the boy discovered the files, flames swallowed the old orphanage where dozens of children still lived.

Firefighters battled the inferno through the night while terrified children cried outside in borrowed blankets.

News cameras called it an electrical accident.

But the boy knew better.

Someone was destroying evidence.

As firefighters searched the ruins, they found Father Michael lying unconscious near his office.

Everyone believed he had tried to save the children.

The media praised him as a hero.

But something didn't make sense.

The little ballerina quietly pointed toward the burned office.

"Look..."

Behind the collapsed bookshelf was a hidden steel door.

The police forced it open.

Inside was a secret underground room no one had known existed.

Rows of filing cabinets stretched across the walls.

Hundreds of birth certificates.

Forged adoption papers.

Stacks of passports.

Photographs of babies taken from hospitals over nearly thirty years.

Detectives stood speechless.

One officer whispered,

"This wasn't an orphanage..."

"It was a warehouse for stolen lives."

Then another discovery changed everything.

In the center of the room stood an old projector.

When investigators turned it on, grainy security footage appeared on the wall.

The date read:

Twelve years ago.

Everyone watched in silence.

A younger Father Michael entered the room...

carrying a crying baby.

The boy.

But seconds later, another man stepped into the frame.

The audience gasped.

It wasn't the hospital director.

It wasn't a stranger.

It was the wealthy father.

The same man who had tearfully claimed he had searched for his son every single day.

The room fell silent.

The boy felt his legs give way.

"No..."

He whispered.

The video continued.

His father handed Father Michael a thick envelope stuffed with cash.

Then he walked away.

No hesitation.

No tears.

No looking back.

The boy's entire world shattered.

Everything he had finally believed...

collapsed in a single moment.

Just then, the elderly janitor rushed into the room.

"Turn it off!" he shouted.

"You're only seeing half the truth!"

He pointed to the damaged projector.

"The recording is broken."

"The last five minutes are missing."

Before anyone could react...

Father Michael, who had secretly regained consciousness, staggered toward the projector with a can of gasoline.

"If I lose everything..."

"So will all of you."

He struck a lighter.

The flames exploded through the underground archive.

As smoke filled the room, the janitor grabbed the boy's arm and shouted,

"Forget the files!"

"There's one child still alive..."

"The child everyone believes died twelve years ago."

The boy stared at him in disbelief.

"What child?"

The old man looked directly into his eyes.

"Your twin sister."

The entire room froze.

The fire roared behind them.

And for the first time...

May you like

The boy realized his story had never been about finding his family.

It had always been about finding the one person who was stolen with him... and was still out there, waiting to be found.
