CHAPTER 1 — THE HOMELESS MAN NOBODY WANTED

Every morning, before sunrise painted the glass towers of Manhattan with golden light, an old homeless man quietly swept the sidewalk outside one of the city's largest corporate headquarters.

No one knew his name.

To everyone passing by, he was simply "the old bum."

His clothes were torn.
His beard was long and gray.
His shoes were held together with pieces of wire.

He carried everything he owned inside one faded military backpack.

Employees walked around him as if he didn't exist.

Some laughed.

Some complained that his presence made the entrance look "cheap."

Others deliberately dropped coffee cups or cigarette butts near his feet, assuming he would clean them anyway.

He never argued.

He simply picked everything up with slow, trembling hands.

Every evening, security forced him to leave the warm entrance.

Every night he slept beneath the old bridge only six blocks away.

One rainy Monday morning, the company was preparing for an important event.

The corporation's legendary CEO, Ethan Blackwell, was returning after months overseas.

Television crews had gathered.

Luxury cars lined the street.

Executives rushed around in expensive suits.

The homeless man quietly stood in the corner, watching.

A young receptionist noticed him.

"Get him out of here!"

"He'll ruin the photographs."

Two security guards approached immediately.

"You heard her."

"Move."

The old man politely smiled.

"I'm not bothering anyone."

One guard shoved him.

The backpack fell onto the wet pavement.

Old photographs scattered everywhere.

The executives laughed.

One of them picked up a faded black-and-white picture.

"Look at this..."

"Guess he thinks he's important."

The picture showed a young soldier holding a little boy.

The executive ripped it in half.

The old man froze.

For the first time...

His eyes filled with tears.

"Please..."

"That picture is all I have left."

Nobody cared.

Instead, another employee kicked the torn pieces into a puddle.

People laughed even harder.

"Pathetic."

"Maybe if you got a job..."

"You wouldn't be living under a bridge."

The old man slowly knelt in the rain.

Without saying another word...

He carefully picked up every soaked piece of the photograph.

At that exact moment...

A black Rolls-Royce stopped in front of the building.

Every executive instantly stood straight.

The CEO had arrived.

No one noticed...

The old homeless man's hands suddenly began shaking—not from fear...

But from recognition.

Because the man stepping out of the limousine...

Was someone he hadn't seen in over thirty years.

May you like

And the CEO hadn't seen him either...

Yet.
