CHAPTER 2 — The Secret Owner's Final Test

The ballroom became eerily silent as the elderly woman entered.

Executives who had ignored her moments earlier suddenly looked terrified.

The chairman hurried toward her.

"Madam Eleanor... we didn't know you were coming tonight."

She smiled softly.

"That's exactly why I came."

No cameras.

No announcement.

No bodyguards.

She wanted to see how people treated someone they believed had no power.

The hotel manager handed her a leather folder.

Inside was a list of employees.

Some had mocked her.

Others had quietly defended her.

Without saying a word, Eleanor asked the young waitress who had secretly offered her an umbrella to step forward.

"What is your name?"

"Emily, ma'am."

"How long have you worked here?"

"Three months."

Eleanor nodded.

"You are now the new Guest Relations Director."

The room gasped.

Then her expression changed.

Cold.

Unforgiving.

She opened the second envelope.

It contained years of hidden financial records.

Millions of dollars had disappeared from the hotel.

Someone inside had been stealing from the company while pretending to protect it.

The chairman's face turned pale.

His hands began to shake.

Because every signature on those documents belonged to him.

He whispered, "Please... we can explain."

Eleanor closed the folder.

"No."

"I built this company from nothing."

"You inherited it."

"And tonight... you lost everything."

Security officers entered the ballroom.

The chairman was escorted away in handcuffs while stunned guests watched in complete disbelief.

As reporters rushed toward Eleanor, she simply smiled.

"I never came here to test who respected a wealthy woman."

"I came to discover who would show kindness to a poor one."
