CHAPTER 2 – "The Woman in the Photograph"

Ethan couldn’t breathe.

The little boy stood before him, holding that old photo like it was proof from another life.

Sophia stepped forward quickly.

“Ethan, don’t listen to him. Someone is trying to ruin our wedding.”

But Ethan didn’t hear her.

His eyes were locked on the boy.

“What’s your name?” he whispered.

The child swallowed hard.

“Noah.”

The name hit Ethan like a bullet.

Because five years ago, before his first love disappeared, she had told him one thing with tears in her eyes:

“If we ever have a son… I want to name him Noah.”

The ballroom went silent again.

Then Noah reached into his hoodie and pulled out a folded letter.

“My mommy said to give you this when I found you.”

Ethan opened it with shaking hands.

The handwriting was hers.

Ethan, if you’re reading this, it means our son survived. It also means someone close to you lied.

Ethan’s face changed.

Slowly, he looked at Sophia.

Sophia stepped back.

“No… Ethan, I can explain—”

But before she could finish, the ballroom doors opened.

An elderly woman walked in with a cane.

Ethan’s mother.

And behind her…

Was a woman in a black veil.

Everyone froze.

The woman lifted the veil.

Ethan dropped the letter.

It was Lily.

His first love.

Alive.

With tears streaming down her face, Lily looked at Sophia and said:

“She didn’t save me that night, Ethan…”

“She locked me away.”

Gasps filled the room.

Sophia screamed, “She’s lying!”

But Noah stepped beside his mother and whispered:

“Daddy… she kept us hidden because she wanted your money.”

Ethan turned to Sophia, devastated.

The bride who promised him forever…

Had been the woman who stole his family.

Security rushed forward.

Sophia tried to run, but Ethan’s mother blocked her path and threw one final envelope onto the floor.

Inside were bank transfers, fake hospital records, and photos of Sophia meeting the men who made Lily disappear.

The wedding ended with no kiss.

No vows.

No celebration.

Only sirens outside the ballroom.

And Ethan kneeling on the aisle, holding Noah and Lily in his arms.

But the biggest shock came one week later.

When Ethan reviewed the final document Lily had kept hidden…

He discovered Sophia had never acted alone.

The mastermind was someone who had been sitting in the front row of the wedding…
