Chapter 2: The $500 Million Ghost

The document extracted from the fake cast wasn't a medical report. It was an unredacted, highly classified life insurance policy and a private asset transfer agreement.

As the doctors backed out of the room under the icy glare of Arthur’s personal security, the truth began to unravel like a cheap sweater.

"You were never dying," Leo said, tossing the heavy stone onto the mattress. It landed right next to Arthur’s perfectly healthy thigh. "And you weren't trying to hide from your enemies. You were hiding from the board of directors."

Arthur sank back into his pillows, the fierce billionaire suddenly looking like a trapped animal. He let out a bitter, raspy laugh. "You think you're so smart, boy? You're just a child. You don't understand the corporate bloodbath out there. Vance Industries is bankrupt. The 'accident' that supposedly crushed my legs was the only thing keeping the creditors from putting a bullet in my head."

The sealed document revealed a terrifying plot: Arthur had successfully faked a permanent, catastrophic injury to trigger a $500 million payout from a maritime insurance syndicate, while secretly funneling his remaining assets into a ghost account under a false identity. The cast wasn't a medical necessity; it was a mobile vault, holding the encrypted keys to the offshore accounts.

"If the world knows I can walk, the insurance company sues for fraud, the board strips my shares, and we are left with nothing," Arthur hissed, leaning forward, his eyes wild. "I did this to save our family legacy! To save your future, Leo!"

"No," a cold voice echoed from the doorway.

Arthur froze. Leo didn’t even turn around. He already knew who it was.

Standing at the entrance of the VIP suite was Leo’s mother, Evelyn. But she wasn't crying or panicked. In her hand, she held a recording device, its little red light blinking like a drop of blood in the dark.

"You did it to save yourself, Arthur," Evelyn said, a cruel smile touching her lips. "But thank you for the confession."
